The Pursuit Institute was awarded two grants from the Indiana department of education to expand career and technical education opportunities within Hamilton County’s school districts. Both grant applications were a collaboration between all six school corporations: Hamilton Southeastern, Sheridan, Carmel, Westfield, Noblesville and Hamilton Heights.
Propelled by these grants, The Pursuit Institute kicked off its first series of professional development workshops last week. Representatives from all six school districts were in attendance, including school and district level administrators, work-based learning coordinators and school counselors.
This series of professional development workshops is focused on 1) increasing student access to high-quality, career-aligned work-based learning and 2) developing or expanding district-wide, comprehensive PK-10 plans for career exploration and engagement. In total, this series of workshops will include 12 synchronous hours of training over five sessions.
CTE professional development efforts will not end here. In 2023, The Pursuit Institute will be launching another concurrent professional development series geared specifically toward PK-12 counselors.
