Five Ways to Prioritize Well-Being This Summer in Hamilton County

By Gabby Blauert, Communications Manager with Hamilton County Tourism

Every season in Hamilton County is special, but the community really comes alive in the summer season. From concerts, festivals and water attractions to sporting events, patio dining and so much more… it can feel overwhelming to survey the number of activities on your summer bucket list, especially as you see people’s highlight reels on social media.

It’s important during this season to pause and remember your intentions and goals for the summer. Are you looking to spend quality time with family or friends? Do you want to try and enjoy nature more?

For me, my goal this summer is to explore the county with my family as if I’m a tourist and to allow myself to wander.

While I continually hope to discover new facets of the community I love and call home, I do have recommendations on where to start for those who want to focus on well-being during this busy season:

  1. Find a new park to explore! With more than 60 parks throughout the county, there’s a new outdoor adventure waiting around every corner. Hamilton County is also home to Strawtown Koteewi Park, which is 750 acres of outdoor adventures, including a wide variety of recreational and educational experiences.
  2. Enjoy a free summer concert! Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville and Westfield all offer free concert opportunities throughout the season. There’s something special about sitting in a lawn chair on a nice evening, listening to great music and appreciating the incredible community we have.
  3. Get on (or near) the White River! Whether you plan a picnic by the river or want to enjoy a leisurely kayak ride or float trip, being on the river and experiencing nature in such a serene way provides a truly rejuvenating experience.
  4. Support local and stop by a farmers market! In the summer, you can find weekly markets in Arcadia, Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, Sheridan and Westfield. Shop local produce, as well as find a wide variety of food and goods vendors from sourdough breads to boutique clothing and everything in between.
  5. Dine al fresco! Hamilton County has a wide variety of patio offerings, whether you want to enjoy a meal by the water or along one of the many trails.

I hope this list inspires you and provides a launch point for summer exploration that isn’t just for your social media feed, but instead feeds your soul and helps you unwind from the busy hustle of day-to-day life.
