Business Services

Hamilton County boasts a diversified and growing base of employers. But no single sector is as significant as financial, legal and business services.

Our largest employers come from these sectors. Hamilton County’s economy depends on them, of course, but also thrives because of the thousands of smaller members of the financial and business services industry, whose administrative, managerial, legal, banking, accounting services and more make it possible for many businesses – large and small – to operate, grow and succeed.

The North Meridian Corporate Corridor in Carmel is home to several insurance companies, including CNO Financial Group Inc., a holding company with three insurance subsidiaries – Washington National Insurance, Bankers Life and Casualty and Colonial Penn Life Insurance – that together have more than 4,000 employees across the country.

GEICO, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, opened a customer service center in the corridor in April 2013  now employs 1,200 people. Nearby is Baldwin & Lyons, which specializes in marketing and underwriting insurance for the transportation industry, and Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., which sells and services auto, home, rental and condo insurance.

Allied Solutions in January 2016 announced it would invest $33 million in a new office in Carmel's Midtown development and hire 600 additional employees. Also located in the North Meridian corridor are financial planners Allegiant Financial Group and The Capital Group in addition to NextGear Capital, which offers lines of credit to purchase inventory.

Navient Solutions Inc., which spun off from Sallie Mae in April 2014, employs more than 1,400 people who service 12 million student loans valued at $300 million from the company’s Fishers location.
