Hamilton County employers continue to win kudos for creating the kind of positive work culture that fuels success.

More than a quarter of the 90 central Indiana businesses on IndyStar’s Top Workplaces 2016 list have significant operations in the fast-growing county north of Indianapolis. The annual employee survey is conducted by WorkplaceDynamics in conjunction with the newspaper, which published the results this weekend.

Among large companies, Carmel-based RCI ranked second. Other honorees in the category included Crew Carwash Inc., Westfield Washington Schools, GEICO, Tom Wood Automotive Group and Baldwin & Lyons Inc.

RE/MAX Ability Plus, which also has its headquarters in Carmel, was fourth among mid-sized companies. Joining it on the list were Orchard Software Corp., DWA Healthcare Communications Group, the city of Westfield, St. Vincent Fishers Hospital and Hamilton Heights School Corp.

Three of the region’s top five small employers also call Hamilton County home: American Income Life-Indiana in Fishers topped the list, followed by Finance of America Mortgage’s Parker Mortgage Team in Noblesville (third place) and homegrown Mainstreet in Carmel (fifth).

Other county-based entries on the small-companies list include the following:
  • Software Engineering Professionals (SEP)
  • Renewal by Andersen of Indiana
  • First Internet Bank
  • Fuzion Analytics
  • Meyer Najem
  • Dauby O'Connor & Zaleski LLC
  • Northview Church
  • Blue Horseshoe Solutions Inc.

And several of the recognized employers based elsewhere in central Indiana also have offices in Hamilton County, further strengthening its status as an attractive place to live and work.

The Star said Philadelphia-based WorkplaceDynamics surveyed 145 of the 1,200-plus companies invited to participate. It received responses from 22,750 employees.

Earlier this year, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce recognized 100 Hoosier companies — including 22 in Hamilton County — through its 2016 Best Places to Work program.

Five employers were recognized by both the Chamber and the Star:
  • RCI
  • Mainstreet
  • Blue Horseshoe
  • First Internet Bank
  • Software Engineering Professionals (SEP)
